Silas

Silas
Latinized as Silvanus; one of the delegates from Jerusalem to the Church in Antioch (Acts 15:22–35). After the rupture with Barnabas, Silas became Paul's principal companion (Acts 15:41–18:5). He assisted Paul in writing or composing his letters (e.g. 1 Thess. 1:1) and also shared in the writing of 1 Peter (5:12), which some scholars regard as the means by which the authorship of Peter, at one remove, can be defended.
